Serving the Capital Region

An Excavation Contractor That Works Across the Harrisburg Area

Harrisburg sits about thirty minutes north of our shop in Dover, and the city plus its surrounding townships are one of our most active service areas. The capital region is a mix of older urban neighborhoods, mid-century suburbs, and steady new construction pushing out into Lower Paxton, Susquehanna Township, and the West Shore communities. Each of those situations needs a slightly different excavation approach, and we run all of them.

On the East Shore, a lot of our calls are tied to older homes in neighborhoods like Allison Hill or properties along the river that need underground utility work, foundation repairs, or stormwater drainage fixes. The infrastructure in some of these areas was put in decades ago, and replacing aging clay sewer laterals or rebuilding French drains around an old foundation has become a regular part of our schedule.

Across the river on the West Shore, the work shifts toward new construction and additions. Builders working in Camp Hill, Lemoyne, and the rest of the West Shore townships bring us in for site prep, foundation excavation, and the utility trenching that has to happen before the slab gets poured. The work is the same disciplined excavation either way. The setting just changes.

What Excavation Looks Like in the Capital Region

Harrisburg's older neighborhoods come with everything you'd expect from infrastructure that's been in place for a century. Cast iron sewer laterals near the end of their service life. Aging galvanized water services. Foundations that were never built with modern drainage in mind. Most of our city-side calls are about fixing one of those three things, and we approach each one with the same disciplined process.

Out on the West Shore, in townships like Lower Allen and Susquehanna, the work is mostly new construction or major additions on suburban properties. The soils here are generally more workable than the rocky ground up around Dillsburg, but we still hit the occasional surprise. Some West Shore lots near the river have a higher water table that needs to be factored into foundation drainage plans.

The Susquehanna River brings its own considerations. Properties in flood-prone areas need careful planning around drainage outfalls and where stormwater can legally be routed. We work within those rules, not around them.

Common Questions

Questions From Harrisburg, PA Property Owners

Both. We work in the city for demolition, sewer line replacement, foundation repair, and drainage on older homes. We also work the surrounding suburbs and the West Shore for new construction, site prep, and full builds.

Yes. Replacing failed cast iron or clay sewer laterals on older homes is something we do regularly. Brandon's plumbing background makes the cast iron to PVC transition at the foundation one of our strongest jobs.

It depends on the scope and the season. Smaller residential jobs we can often slot in within two to three weeks. Larger site prep or foundation work, plus the time it takes to pull a permit through the city or township, can push that out to a month or more. We give a realistic timeline in the quote.

Carefully, and within the local stormwater rules. We're familiar with the drainage and flood considerations that come with riverside properties and we design drainage and excavation work that respects them.
