Footer digs, full basements, crawl spaces, slabs, and backfill for new builds and additions across Dover, York County, and the rest of south central PA.

Overview

Foundation Excavation That Sets the Whole Project Up

The very first job Brandon dug with his own excavator was a foundation. That part of the business hasn't slowed down. Foundation excavation is one of the most common calls we get from builders across Dover, Dillsburg, and the new construction work spreading out from Harrisburg into the suburbs.

Foundation excavation in York County, PA isn't only about cutting a hole. It's about hitting the right elevation, dealing with the rock and the soils that show up under the topsoil, and handing the concrete crew a clean, square hole they can start setting forms in immediately. Get it wrong and the concrete contractor has to recut. Get it right and the rest of the project moves on schedule.

We dig full basements, walk-outs, crawl spaces, slab on grade, and footer-only excavations for additions, pole barns, and garages. We work with your concrete contractor on grade and dimensions, we install foundation drainage when it's part of the scope, and we come back for the backfill once the walls cure.

What Sets Us Apart

Why Builders Bring Us In for Foundation Digs

We've been at the bottom of enough new builds to know exactly what the concrete crew and the inspector are going to want to see.

Hit the Elevation

Subgrade shot to the right depth so the concrete crew can pour without recutting. Saves real money on the back end.

Square and Clean

Corners shot square, walls vertical, floor of the dig clean enough to start setting footers same day.

Rock Plan Ready

York County has shale. We bring the right teeth and we have a plan for when we hit it, not when we're already in it.

Drainage Built In

Perimeter foundation drain installed at the same time as the dig. Daylight outlet planned from the start.

Coordinated With Your Concrete Crew

We talk to your concrete contractor before the dig and meet them on site for the handoff. No surprises.

Backfill Done Right

We come back after the cure, install drainage if it's not in yet, and backfill in lifts with proper compaction.

Full Basement Digs in Rocky Ground

A surprising number of new homes around Dillsburg and the higher ground in York County end up with shale within a few feet of grade. We come prepared with the right rock-breaking attachments and a realistic plan, so what could be a multi-week schedule blow-up turns into a one-extra-day adjustment.

Working With Your Concrete Contractor

Foundation excavation lives or dies on the handoff to the concrete crew. We sit down with them before the dig, set elevations together, and meet on site when the dig is done so the forms can start going up the same day we pull off. That coordination keeps the whole project on rail.

What to Expect

Foundation Excavation in York County Conditions

The Susquehanna Valley has soils and bedrock that out-of-area excavators sometimes underestimate. We don't.

Shale and Rock

Common around Dillsburg, parts of Camp Hill, and the higher ground around Dover. We're ready for it.

Clay Pockets

Hanover and the south end of York have heavy clay soils. We compact and drain for it.

Wet Lots and High Water Tables

Some lots near streams or low ground bring water into the dig. We plan dewatering when needed.

Tight Lot Access

Infill lots in older neighborhoods need careful equipment access and tree protection.

Concrete Crew Coordination

Most of our foundation digs are scheduled around the concrete contractor's calendar. We respect their timeline.

Inspection Readiness

Whether the township inspects the footer, the drain, or the backfill, we're ready when they show up.

Common Questions

Foundation Excavation FAQ

Full basements, walk-out basements, crawl spaces, slab on grade, and footer-only digs for additions and pole buildings. We work on residential new builds, additions, and the occasional small commercial foundation across Dover and York County.

Yes, that's most of how we work. We sequence the excavation, set the subgrade, and hand a clean hole to the concrete crew at the right elevation. If you don't have a concrete contractor yet we can recommend a couple we trust.

Plenty of York County lots have shale or larger rock within a few feet of grade. If we hit something significant we stop, walk you through what we found, and price out the rock removal as a separate line item. You're never surprised on the invoice.

Yes. We come back after the concrete crew is done, install foundation drainage if it's part of the scope, and backfill in lifts with proper compaction. We finish with rough grading around the foundation so the rest of the trades can work clean.

We can, and we usually recommend it. Putting in the perimeter drain and the daylight outlet while the foundation is exposed is the right time to do it. Adding it later means digging the same trench twice.
